Sponsorship, ads and affiliate links

If long pages are hard to read, you can start with the TL;DR and then just read the parts you need.

TL;DR

  • Quietly Neurodivergent is a small, independent project run by Andrew Wright.
  • The site may show ads (for example, via Google AdSense) to help cover costs.
  • If I ever use affiliate links or sponsored content, they will be clearly labelled.
  • I do not accept money or freebies in exchange for saying things I don’t believe.
  • You can always choose not to click on ads or affiliate links.

For more about data and cookies used by ads, please see the Privacy policy.

Why this page exists

Money and disclosure can be confusing or uncomfortable to talk about. This page is here to:

  • explain how Quietly Neurodivergent might earn money,
  • make clear how ads, sponsorship and affiliate links are handled,
  • reassure you about editorial independence.

The goal is to be upfront so you can make informed choices.

Current income sources

Quietly Neurodivergent is a small, independent website. To help cover costs like hosting, software, and time, the site may use:

  • Display advertising, such as Google AdSense
  • Other small income streams in future, such as digital products, memberships or donations

Right now, there are:

  • no sponsored posts pretending to be neutral articles
  • no hidden payments for positive reviews

If this changes, I will update this page.

Display ads (for example, Google AdSense)

The site may show display ads in some places (usually in sidebars or between sections of an article). These ads are:

  • clearly separated from the main content,
  • controlled by an ad network such as Google AdSense,
  • labelled as ads where possible.

You do not have to click on any ad. Simply scrolling past them is fine.

Your choices about how ads use cookies and personal data are handled through the cookie / consent banner and explained in more detail in the Privacy policy.

Sponsored content

“Sponsored content” means a post, page or section where:

  • a company, organisation or individual has paid for something to be created or shared, or
  • I have received a product or service for free in exchange for considering a review.

If I ever publish sponsored content:

  • it will be clearly labelled as “Sponsored”, “In partnership with…” or similar wording near the top of the page,
  • I will give my honest view and will not promise positive coverage,
  • I will only accept sponsorships that align reasonably with the values of the site and are relevant to neurodivergent readers.

I will not:

  • accept money in exchange for saying things I do not believe,
  • hide sponsorship behind vague “collaboration” language.

If you see something that feels unclear, you can always email [email protected] and ask.

Affiliate links

“Affiliate links” are special links to products or services. If you click an affiliate link and then buy something, the site may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.

If affiliate links are used on Quietly Neurodivergent:

  • they will be clearly disclosed near the top of the page and/or next to the links,
  • wording such as “This post contains affiliate links” will be used,
  • recommendations will be based on genuine usefulness, not just commission rates.

I will not:

  • recommend something solely because it pays a higher commission,
  • hide the fact that a link is an affiliate link.

You are always free to ignore affiliate links or search for the same item independently if you prefer.

Other forms of support

In future, Quietly Neurodivergent may offer other ways to support the site, such as:

  • digital resources or downloads,
  • pay-what-you-can extras,
  • memberships, subscriptions or tip jars.

If and when those appear, I will:

  • explain clearly what you get,
  • make it clear that basic content on the site remains free to read,
  • avoid pressure-heavy sales tactics.

Editorial independence

Regardless of how the site is funded:

  • All opinions are my own (or those of guest writers, clearly credited as such).
  • I do not let advertisers, sponsors or affiliates decide what I write or how I write it.
  • I won’t accept arrangements that require me to hide negative experiences or concerns.

If I write about a product, service or organisation that has been gifted, discounted or paid for, I will say so.
